“Arise, shine, for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee (Isaiah 60:1)”

This section is intended to expound on the wonderful word “light” in scripture.  Cited below are the initial creation words recorded as spoken by the Lord God Almighty:

“And God said, Let there be light: and there was light (Gen. 1:3).”

We understand this verse does not refer to the sun, which was not created until the fourth day (Gen. 1:16).  God called the light day and the darkness night (Gen 1:5).

“The day is thine, the night also is thine: thou hast prepared the light and the sun (Ps. 74:16).”

 Paul in later scripture stated:

“Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness (I Th. 5: 5).”

So we are children of what God called “light” which shines above the brightness of the sun (Acts 26:13).

“For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ (II Cor. 4:6).”

The book of Hebrews tells us that Jesus is the brightness of the Father's glory and the express image of his person (Heb. 1:3).  And Jesus said:

I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life Jn. 8:12."

In Psalms we find:

“For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light we see light (Ps. 36:9).”

“The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple (Ps. 119:130).”

And the Apostle John waxes eloquently, clearly, and knowledgeably in expounding on Jesus being the light of life!

“In him was life; and the life was the light of men (Jn. 1:4).”

“That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world (Jn. 1:9)."

While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light (Jn. 12:36)”

“I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly (Jn. 10:10)."

We know that Jesus was with God in the beginning (Jn. 1:2).  And that all things in heaven and earth were made by Him (Col. 1:16).  And that "without him was not any thing made that was made (Jn. 1:3)."  Moreover, He is "the beginning of the creation of God (Rev 3:14).And also "the way, the truth and the life (Jn. 14:6)."  Given this, may it be said there was a glorious connection to and by the Son in Genesis 1:3 at the very creation beginning?

In the end we’ll not need the sun or moon because of the eternal glorious light of the Father and Son:

‘The sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee: but the Lord shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory (Is. 60:19).”

"And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it:  for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof (Rev. 21:23)."

“And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever (Rev 22:5).”

When we have the light of life, we have the Son Jesus Christ.  How wonderfully marvelous!
