Laying up Treasures

“For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also (Mt. 6:21).”

In Jesus Christ, we are to view life from a heavenly perspective as pertains to His Kingdom.  As the scripture states, we are to set our “affection on things above, not on things on the earth" (Col. 3:2).  So quite clearly, what we personally value is going to determine whether we begin laying up treasure towards God and experience richness towards Him.  What can we do to be rich toward God?  Practice those things which are important to God, that have an eternal value for the soul.

“ ... follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.  Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, ...  (I Tim. 6:11-12)”

“And thou shalt love the lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength (Mk. 12:30): ...”

“And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever (I Jn. 2:17).”

“For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live (Rom. 8:13).”

“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, ... (Rom. 12:2)”

"Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled (II Cor. 10:5-6).”

If we are obedient in these things, we will “eat the good of the land: ...” (Is. 1:19; Ezra 9:12) and God will fill your desire and treasures:

“I lead in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment: That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasures (Prov. 8:20-21).”
